Jennifer Massey
Jennifer Massey is the co-founder of Still Wind Ministries. In addition to running her private counseling practice, she has served Still Wind in many capacities fueled by her passion for helping bridge the gap to access and utilization of community mental health services in Upstate, SC. She believes mental health is a pillar of a safe and thriving community.
Specialty / Approach
Jennifer intends to meet people where they are to help them map a path to improve their mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual health. She can understand complex concepts and convert them into practical analogies and realistic applications. Her thinking style is systematic and methodical, and her communication style is concise and thorough. To put her style into perspective, it can feel like a relationship engineer, a mind mechanic, or a story editor.
Jennifer specializes in trauma recovery, mental health well being, and relationship repair. She utilizes internal family systems, spiritually oriented psychotherapy, family systems, EMDR, and Mindful CBT. Jennifer provides Counseling Discipleship, Group Counseling, Nature Based Counseling, and Retreat Style Counseling services.
Jennifer began her social work classes while studying abroad at Curtin University in Perth, Australia then completed a BA in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Northern Colorado. She then received a Master of Social Work at the University of Alabama and became licensed 1999. Jennifer has worked as a social worker in children’s medical services where she developed a broad set of crisis response and child abuse response skills. Later, she worked in school-based mental health and afterwards in child/adolescent outpatient mental health. She began private practice in 2008. Jennifer has served as an adjunct professor in the University of South Carolina's MSW program, public and private mental health, non-profit management, and entrepreneurship.
Sonny Boy, a King Charles Caviler, is her animal therapist. He adds empathy to her sessions with large doses of affection.

Interests
Jennifer considers herself an outdoorsman. She enjoys gardening, hiking, kayaking, and often leads outdoor adventures. When she's not exploring the outdoors, Jennifer enjoys spending time training her two dogs. She and her husband enjoy attending church and worshipping with diverse multi-cultural communities.
